Systems for cranes and lifting equipment according to actual legislation EN 13849

North German based KST provides complete systems and components for the safety of cranes and other lifting equipment as well as construction machines.

These systems measure motions and loading of the machine by means of suitable sensors. These signals are transferred to the programmable logic control (PLC), being processed to control the machine and take care for the safe status of the machine. It works automatically, so that dangerous overload situations are avoided by switching off respective machine functions.

A display unit (Monitor, Console) that is connected to the PLC will display the relevant data on its screen and enables the user to control his working process.

It is essential, that systems for crane safety comply with the actual legislation, i.e. the EN 13849. For this reason, the processor has to have an internal structure to perform according to SIL-2 and Performance level D (PL-d) and that the safety relevant sensors are redundant; i.e. have to be duplicated.

Only these features guaranty the safe condition of the machine condition, even if parts of the safety become defect.

Beside the electronic controls and the display units, the sensors and transducers have an essential part within the system.
